Fed up with sandy beaches and freezing cold, crashing waves? Well no of course..... But there are other ways to stay cool inland in Portugal. The River Beach phenomenon is continuing to gain in popularity with both locals and visitors.
Portugal really is not only about beautiful sandy beaches, inland there is incredible rural scenery, towering mountains and cool, unbelievably clear river water. Many of these swimming areas are enhanced with bars, kids areas, sand, parasols and people but lots are also quiet havens of peace and tranquility.
